Have a Better Ride

In working with horses, my goal is to help people understand their horses, and help horses become better educated and safer for their people.  I believe that once a person understands why their horse does what he does, they can become the partner and leader that their horse wants and needs. I focus on gaining respect from and for your equine partner and understanding how to get what you want without losing your temper, relying on gadgets, or writing your horse off as a lost cause.

I offer individual training as well as workshops and clinics in the following areas:

Groundwork – Does your horse take you for walks? Drag you around the arena on the lunge line? Invade your space or make you feel uncomfortable while you’re on the ground? Learning how to get your horse’s respect while on the ground is important for your safety and his, and the benefits of softness and respect in hand translate to work in the saddle as well.

Colt Starting – A colt is a clean slate, for the most part, and the foundation, good or bad, is what the horse carries with him through his entire life.  Giving your colt a solid start is invaluable no matter what your plans for him may be.  I really love starting colts! I think it’s one of the most rewarding aspects of working with horses.

Problem Solving – Do you have a specific “problem” area that you “just wish someone could help” you with? Don’t fret, everyone needs a little help every now and then (even professional athletes have coaches!).

New or Beginning Riders – If you’re new to riding or horse ownership and would like some pointers in the basics of horse care, I am happy to help you become the best care-giver your horse could wish for.
